Hi SF IRL! Happy June! There's a ton of vibrance and energy coming back into the city and at SF IRL, we are excited to be a part of it. Excited to come with you all with some great events for Issue #43 of SF IRL. Hope everyone is recovering from SF Tech Week.
I'm Jonathan, the creator of SF IRL. I've been a Bay Area resident all my life and just moved into San Francisco about 2 years ago. My full-time job is at Brex as an XIR where I meet founders and VCs while trying to create a community in the city. My vision for SF IRL is simple. Showcase the best tech + startup events in SF and to connect all of our builders and investors together. We are a growing community having over 3600+ subscribers. June 14th, 2023 - Building & Analyzing an AI Powered Search System
Location: San Francisco

What: As more and more companies start using LLMs to build their own chatbots or search systems, poor retrieval is a common issue plaguing teams. So, how can you efficiently build and analyze the LLM that powers your search system, and how do you know how to improve it? If there isn't enough context to pull in, then the prompt doesn't have enough context to answer the question.
Imagine you've built and deployed an LLM question-answering service that enables users to ask questions and receive answers from a knowledge base. You want to understand what kinds of questions your users are asking and whether you're providing good answers to those questions.
In this hands-on workshop, you will download a pre-indexed knowledge base and run a LlamaIndex application. You will download user query data and knowledge base data, including embeddings computed using the OpenAI API. Using Phoenix, you will investigate clusters of user queries with no, or limited, corresponding knowledge base entries.

What: Join us at Replit's San Francisco office for a one-day extensions hackathon on June 17th.
We'll guide you all the way through coming up with an idea, building your first extension, publishing it on the store, and getting your first users. You'll also get a chance to interact with other talented builders and the Replit team.
